About Us

Crane's Lochaven Wilderness Lodge:  Is part of a private 4 square mile island located on the Historic French River, 6 miles by boat. We are located just 3 1/2 hours North of Toronto. Not another structure can be seen from our location. Each cabin is situated over the water with a spectacular view of the river.

This is a first class operation that has been family owned and operated since 1973. We pride ourselves on service, outstanding accommodations, tantalizing cuisine and of course incredible fishing opportunities. If you are social, love meeting new people while at the same time require enough privacy to enjoy your vacation, then Crane's Lochaven Wilderness Lodge has all the necessary facilities for you. Spend your next vacation with us and learn what true relaxation in the wilderness setting is all about

We believe holidays are for relaxation and enjoyment. It's no fun when you have to cook and clean. At Lochaven your only job is to have a good time. We're family owned and operated since 1973 and we cater to your every need.

Our staff clean, pack and freeze your fish for the trip home, as well as maintain your boat and all included equipment. Guests who prefer to bring their own boats are welcome to dock them at no additional charge. Should you require additional fishing tackle, our tuck shop carries a wide variety as well as licenses, rain gear, sundries and T-shirts.

Our package rates include everything except for your personal gear, beverages and fishing tackle. Pick-up at our private supervised parking lot at Wolseley Bay is free of charge, but a per mile rate is charged for those who need pick-up at airport terminals.

Our success depends on your satisfaction, not only on your first visit, but every visit year after year. Please feel free to ask for references and we'll send you a list of people in your area who have stayed with us.

Your stay at Lochaven will be one to remember. Your fully serviced private log cabin with a welcome bottle of our own labelled wine will set the tone for your holiday. Fishing Locations

The lodge is located off the easterly end of 18 Mile island at the junction of North and Main channels of the river. The surrounding landscape is awe-inspiring with 6 sets of white water rapids as close as 1/4 mile from camp to the Chaudiere rapids which are 10 miles from camp. Combine this with hundreds of miles of deep shoreline, and numerous bays and islands and you'll quickly realize why the French River area is one of the most beautiful in Ontario. The nature enthusiasts  can enjoy hiking the marked trails of the island which lead to 2 sets of rapids and a huge beaver colony.
